In This Country is a searing, prophetic drama set entirely in a well-to-do Upper West Side Manhattan apartment — and in its ruins. The play unfolds in three non-linear scenes across a span of twenty years, centering on the Jackson family: Michael, a history professor; Sam, a federal judge; their son Danny; their daughter Angie; and Angie’s partner Billy, a PTSD-scarred veteran. On Veterans Day in the near future, a far-right insurrection tears through Lower Manhattan, and the family is trapped in their apartment as their city — and their country — descends into chaos.
